How To Find Cheap Flights Fast  – Using Google Flights And (How To Set It Up) – Episode 9

1. Setting Up Your Search with Google Flights

    • If you don’t already have one, setting up a user profile with Google Flights is quick and simple. All you need is a valid email address and your personal information (name, date of birth) to create a profile.
    • Once you’ve done that, you’ll be able to begin searching for the perfect flight.

2. Search Functionality (Filtering Options, etc.)

    • When it comes to searching for flights with Google Flights, the key is to make use of all the filtering options available.
    • You can filter your search by departure/arrival times & dates, airlines, number of stops or connections, and total flight duration – all of which can come in handy when narrowing down your search results.
    • Google Flight allows users to search up to seven airports at once, (not cities). And the calendar displays the cheapest dates over a two-month period.

3. How to Spot the Cheapest Flight Options

Now that you have your search set up properly, it’s time to start looking for cheaper fares.

    • Look into round-trip tickets instead of one-way tickets as they tend to be more economical.
    • Compare different routes & combinations so you can find the most affordable flights. Consider flying during off-peak times.
    • Be flexible with travel dates in order to find cheaper fares near those dates.

Additionally, it helps if you’re able to book flights at least 3 weeks prior as many airlines offer discounts during that time period.

4. Utilizing Additional Features to Maximize Savings

    • If you want to maximize savings on flights even further, then take advantage of some other features provided by Google Flights such as price prediction and alert services.
    • Price prediction will help give you an indication on whether fares are likely to go up or down in the future; whereas alerts will notify users when fare prices drop below certain amounts and allow them to act fast before those deals disappear.

5. Flights Explore Map

Google Flights doesn’t promote a lot on its ‘Flights Explore Map’. However, it is my favorite tool.

Here’s how to use it:

    • Navigate to Google Flights Home Page at google.com/flights. Or you can go to- flights.google.com/explore.
    • Enter in departure airport. (You can only choose one departure city)
    • Leave your destination blank.
    • Dates can be specific, or you can leave it blank.
    • On the map, you will see destinations all around the word.
Warning – When you select your ticket and the price appears higher than what was displayed, it is usually because the price for that particular route has ended, or Google Flights has not updated its database with the new pricing yet.

It’s worth noting that Google Flights are extremely reliable. It gets its data directly from each airline (or online travel agency) database. And most times when you find an error, it’s usually because of an error on the airline’s end.

FYI – Google will stop offering the option to book a flight directly through the site after Sept. 30th for most of the world.

The search engine will then similarly end the option in the United States after March 31, 2023. The company confirmed this to Travel + Leisure.
